Abstract: The article deals with the linguistic nature of the Azerbaijani ethnotoponym. Also, the system analyzes the Azerbaijani ethnotoponym, based etnooykonimov, etnooronimov, etnogidronimov. During the analysis is mainly determined by the structural and semantic features, lexical bases ethnotoponym. In these works are considered etymological aspects of the problem. In our study focuses on the linguistic foundations of Azerbaijani ethnotoponym and descriptive principles of existing dictionaries. The article also reveals the position occupied ethnotoponym in the lexical system.
