Abstract: The article presents the results of a flame-retardant modification of polyacrylonitrile fibre, previously treated by HF capacitive plasma of low pressure, and then the phosphate inhibitor combustion farinola-2 . Modification of the newly formed, inlaid, fiber can increase the oxygen index to 29,5% vol, which makes it possible to classify these materials in the category of flammable. DTA data allowed to establish the influence farinola-2 on thermal transformations that lead to the strengthening of the processes of cyclization and dehydrogenation, and as a consequence of carbonization, flameproof PAN fibers, thereby reducing its flammability.
