Abstract: One of the main elements of creation of modern civil society and open public administration in a number of the developed countries is the system of the electronic government. Modern information society is closely connected with the electronic government, E-government, which carries out important functions on regulation of information relations between the state both its citizens and the organizations. In this article definitions of information and communication technologies, the main directions and mechanisms of the electronic government are given.
