Abstract: This article is dedicated to theatrical life of Baku, Azerbaijan in the beginning of the XX century. The focus is on tours of Italian opera and Jewish theatre in Baku. The article is written on the basis of Russian speaking newspapers extracted from archives. Theatrical criticism ascertains the high professional level of opera singers from Italy, musical beauty of operas by Giuzeppe Verdi “Aida”, “Rigoletto” and his many other operas. On the occasion of Jewish theatre the media noted its high ethic level. Overall, there is accentuated “sold out” notice and the interest of Azerbaijani audience in this overview.
