Abstract: The paper solves the problem of the boundary of an elliptical gap in an unbounded viscoelastic medium and the stress-strain state that arises around it when a shear wave is applied. The problem is formulated in an elliptical coordinate system and reduced to the Mathieu equation, and the solution is obtained using the Mathieu function. Numerical results are obtained in the Matlab program.
