Abstract: Human embryo implantation is a critical step in establishing pregnancy and requires precise coordination between the blastocyst and the receptive endometrium. The process involves sequential stages of apposition, adhesion, and invasion, mediated by complex hormonal, molecular, and cellular interactions. Steroid hormones regulate endometrial receptivity and is temporally restricted to a “window of implantation.” Communication between the embryo and maternal tissue plays a crucial role in determining implantation success, involving the interaction of adhesion molecules, cytokines, growth factors, and immune modulation. Understanding these mechanisms informs clinical strategies for treating implantation failure and improving assisted reproductive technologies.
