Abstract: The article examines the principles and approaches to the formation of discursive competence in students studying French. The author emphasizes the importance of developing the skills of constructing a coherent and logically organized statement within a specific speech situation. A set of exercises is proposed aimed at activating speech activity, developing coherence and coherence of the text, as well as mastering typical discursive markers of the French language. Methodological recommendations are accompanied by examples of tasks adapted to different levels of language training. The importance of integrating such exercises into a communicative approach to teaching a foreign language is emphasized.
