Abstract: DNA testing has become central to solving crime mysteries, revolutionising investigative and judicial processes. This technique makes it possible to identify suspects, revealing their connection to criminal acts by analysing their unique genetic code. Nevertheless, despite significant advances in forensic science, there are challenges associated with the application of genetic analysis. Among the most pressing is the issue of protecting and studying DNA samples in the laboratory. This issue becomes particularly acute when dealing with long-standing evidence that requires new analyses and possible re-examination. The problem also affects the procedure for collecting samples at the scene and their integrity throughout the examination.
