Abstract: In the article, the authors came to the conclusion that forced “autarky” became a powerful stimulus for such impressive growth, but it is neither necessary nor possible to repeat the experience of overcoming it in our days. We believe that from today the main, fundamental, long-term line of our state should be leaving from the state of autarky and the transition as quickly as possible to the rails of normal economic, first of all, cooperation with other countries. Practical significance: the main provisions and conclusions of the article can be used in scientific, pedagogical and propaganda activities for a deeper understanding of the history of industrialization in Russia and for the search for methods and techniques for overcoming autarky outside. The beginning of the 21st century is characterized by increased international tension and an increase in protectionist measures, and, in connection with this, autarky and imperialism are again on the agenda. Reasoning on this topic, the authors conclude about a hybrid of globalization and autarky, as well as a new clash of modern globalization projects.
