Abstract: This article reviews diversification of the sources of energy and raw materials as a strategic way of rising the energy independence of the USА. It examines the connection between the expansion of the use of renewable energy resources, the localization of the production of critical resources, and the development of national security. Economic, political, and environmental considerations are discussed, including reducing exposure to external shocks and making growth sustainable. Special attention is being paid to federal and regional support policies, including draft laws such as the Inflation Reduction Act, and programs for the development of rare earth and other strategic minerals.
