Abstract: The article examines the fundamentals and features of national legislation aimed at ensuring state and legal security in the fight against religious extremism. The key regulatory legal acts regulating the counteraction to extremist activity, as well as the mechanisms of their implementation, are analyzed. Special attention is paid to law enforcement practice, the role of law enforcement agencies and the judicial system in detecting, preventing and suppressing extremist crimes. The article examines international legal norms and the experience of foreign countries in the field of countering religious extremism, as well as the possibilities of their adaptation to the national legal system. The article examines the current challenges and trends of religious extremism, including its digitalization, the use of social networks and new technologies in the dissemination of radical ideas. The authors emphasize the need to develop comprehensive measures combining legal, social and preventive strategies aimed at minimizing the threats posed by religious extremism. As a result of the study, recommendations are proposed for improving legislation, strengthening interdepartmental cooperation, as well as developing preventive programs and mechanisms of public control.
