Abstract: The article examines the religious rituals of the Karakalpak people associated with traditional economic activities: agriculture, cattle breeding and fishing. The article analyzes the relationship between economic practice and religious beliefs that have developed under the influence of the Islamic tradition and more ancient beliefs. Special attention is paid to the functions of rituals in preserving social solidarity, transferring cultural experience and adapting the population to the natural conditions of the Aral Sea region.
