Abstract: The article presents the features of adaptation of migrants arriving in Russia to the socio-cultural characteristics of Russian society. The categorical concepts of "adaptation", "migration" "socio-cultural characteristics" are disclosed, the existing types of migrants, the specifics of adaptation and inclusion in Russian society of each of them, programs, practices and methods of adaptation of migrants, organizations implementing this activity, and the legislative framework regulating the entry and adaptation of migrants in the country are considered. In addition, the analysis of migration sentiments of the population of the regions of Russia and the identification of the main causes of migration based on the results of the sociological study are carried out. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of interregional migration and assessment of the scale of hidden migration. Based on the results of the study, the restraining factors of migration and possible ways of changing migration flows during their adaptation to living in the regions of Russia are determined.
