Abstract: The article provides a socio-economic assessment of the dynamics of nominal and real wages in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2017–2024. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that nominal wage growth does not always reflect an actual improvement in living standards, since its real effect depends on inflation, purchasing power, minimum labour guarantees and the distribution of income among population groups. The study examines nominal and real wages, the ratio between average wages and the minimum wage, sectoral wage differentiation, the regional structure of the economically active population and income inequality indicators. It was found that nominal wages increased from 1.252 million soums in 2017 to 4.404 million soums in 2024, while real wages increased from 1.094 million soums to 4.011 million soums. At the same time, the Gini coefficient rose from 0.262 in 2017–2019 to 0.286 in 2024, indicating the persistence of income differentiation. The article concludes that wages should be assessed not only in nominal terms, but also in terms of their real purchasing power and social distribution.
Key words: wages, nominal wages, real wages, inflation, minimum wage, household income, Gini coefficient, Republic of Uzbekistan.
