Abstract: The article examines the evolution of interethnic relations in the Republic of Kazakhstan after gaining independence in 1991. The key stages of the transformation of the ethnic structure of society, state policy in the field of interethnic harmony, and the role of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in ensuring social stability are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the processes of forming civic identity and reducing conflict potential in a multiethnic environment. It is shown that the Kazakhstani model of interethnic interaction represents a combination of institutional mechanisms and cultural dialogue aimed at maintaining public harmony and sustainable development of the state.

Key words: Kazakhstan, interethnic relations, multiethnicity, national policy, civic identity, Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, social integration, ethnic harmony.
